Mr. Leung Ka-ho (PhD in Chemistry) won the Best Poster Presenter in the area of analytical chemistry at the 20th Symposium on Chemistry Postgraduate Research in Hong Kong recently. The title of his presentation was “A luminescent G-quadruplex switch-on probe for the highly selective and tunable detection of cysteine and glutathione”.
Under the supervision of Dr. Edmond Ma, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Ka-ho’s work focused on developing an oligonucleotide-based label-free luminescent probe for metal ions and biomolecules. The established assay can potentially enable applications such as in-field study in the environment or point-of-care diagnostics in the clinical setting.
The annual symposium was attended by more than 500 academics, faculty members, researchers and postgraduate students from six local universities.
