The 33rd International Society for Teacher Education Annual Seminar (ISfTE) hosted by the Department of Education Studies from 27 to 31 May attracted participants from 17 countries on five continents.

With the theme “Teacher Education: Meeting the Needs of the New Generation”, this year’s seminar featured three key addresses, six paper group sessions and an educational visit to a secondary school. Professor Cheng Kai-ming, Senior Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong, spoke on “Education for Tomorrow: Challenges to Teacher Education”. Professor Mike Keppell, Executive Director of the Australian Digital Futures Institute of the University of Southern Queensland, spoke on “New Generation Learners: Personalised Learning in A Digital Age”. Professor Janet Draper, Adjunct Professor of the Department of Education Studies of HKBU, spoke on “Meeting Changing Needs: Is It Time to Redesign Teachers’ Work?”.

Formed in 1981, ISfTE aims to provide a forum where teacher educators, and those with an interest in teacher training and development, could meet as professionals and discuss their work.
