Thirty students from HKBU, Nanjing University and National Central University, Taiwan, gathered at HKBU from 18 to 22 August for an entrepreneurship exchange tour which prepared them to become entrepreneurs in the future through entrepreneurship seminars, sharing sessions and visits to business corporations. Hong Kong was the second stop of the exchange tour. Last month, they visited Nanjing and the last stop is Taiwan.
The students attended sharing sessions by entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan. They also visited entrepreneurship parks in Nanjing, business incubation facilities for web and mobile technology and biotechnology at Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and the Incubation Training Centre at Cyberport, etc.
During the tour, students from three universities came up with the business idea of making string bags for sale. HKBU students will be responsible for the design, Nanjing University students will source well-priced material while National Central University students will fabricate the bags.
The exchange tour is the first activity of a three-year Multilateral-Transborder Entrepreneurship Exchange Program which aims to nurture future young entrepreneurs with a global perspective and an innovative spirit. Students participating in the programme were winners of entrepreneurship competitions at their universities. They are passionate about entrepreneurship and all of them have an initial entrepreneurship plan or business idea.
Last October, HKBU, Nanjing University, National Central University and Macau University of Science and Technology signed an agreement of co-operation to provide a multicultural platform for young student entrepreneurs from across the Strait. The project aims to spark students’ entrepreneurial spirit and nurture future entrepreneurs for the Greater China region through training, sharing, interaction and exchange.
