The School of Business and Hong Kong Energy Studies Centre coorganised a workshop entitled “Hong Kong’s Electricity Future: Balancing Reliability, Environment and Cost” on Tuesday (10 June). Over 10 of the world’s leading energy experts and scholars gathered to explore the choices Hong Kong faces as it shapes its electricity future. The discussions took place under four spectrums – “natural gas”, “renewable energy”, “smart grid” and “carbon trading”. 

 

The workshop was hosted by Professor Woo Chi-keung, Head of the Department of Economics, and Professor Larry Chow, Director of Hong Kong Energy Studies Centre. Officiating at the opening ceremony were Ms Christine Loh, Under Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR Government, Mr Edmund Leung, Former Chairman of the Energy Advisory Committee, HKSAR Government, and Past President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research and Development), HKBU.
