The 2013-14 College of International Education (CIE) Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony was held recently in recognition of the achievements of more than 280 Associate Degree and Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes students in the areas of academic studies, extracurricular activities and community services in the past year. The awards presented included the CIE Outstanding Service Award, CIE Special Talent Award, CIE Special Recognition Award, CIE Global Experience Fund and the Education Bureau’s Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Simon Wong, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, commended the commitment and efforts of the awardees in attaining their achievements. He encouraged students to realise their own potential and keep up the good work. Apart from achieving good academic results, it is important for them to be unique and responsible individuals who contribute to society, said Dr Wong.

Brian Yip, Sport and Recreation Studies Associate Degree student and member of the Hong Kong U20 Representative Football Team, was deeply honoured to have received the CIE Special Talent Award. At the sharing session, he said that it was important to strike a balance between academic studies and extracurricular activities, and that it was necessary to have good time management skills. Physical exercise has helped him relieve stress and achieve satisfactory academic results.

In addition, prizes were presented to the CIE Green Ambassadors and the winners of the CIE Video Competition and CIE Writing Contest.
