The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) organised four summer exploration day camps recently to promote Chinese medicine knowledge and enable secondary school students to experience university life. Through introductory lectures, simulated experiments and a variety of games and visits, 250 secondary four and five students had an opportunity to learn about Chinese medicine and to get a taste of the campus life of a university student.
Activities at the day camp included lectures on Chinese medicine and experiments related to acupuncture, tui na, identification of Chinese herbal medicines, the phytochemistry of Chinese materia medica and physiology. Alumni and students of SCM also shared their learning experience and career prospects with the participants, enabling them to learn more about university life and the current development of the Chinese medicine industry.
