The University held its annual Golf Day at The Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling last Friday (21 November). The HKBU•EVOKK Golf Day 2014 attracted 180 participants who formed 46 teams to compete for 17 awards. The event also provided an opportunity for nearly 200 members of the University community to meet old friends and make new acquaintances. Together, they successfully raised HK$1.5 million in support of the University’s long-term development.
Officiating at the Tee-Off Ceremony were Dr Wilfred Wong, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation; Dr Moses Cheng, Chairman of the Education Commission, HKSAR; Mr Allan Kwong, Title Sponsor and Chairman of Certiz Premier Products Ltd; Dr Ronald Lu and Ir Dr KK Wong, Co-Chairmen of the Organising Committee; and Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor.
After rounds of vigorous competition, Mr Timothy Lam Jr’s Team won the overall championship while the first runner-up and second runner-up prizes went to the Baptist Chemists and the Elite Team respectively. The Baptist Chemists also captured the Alumni Cup.
In the individual contests, Mr Max Wong claimed the Net Score championship while Mr James Wong and Mr Kenneth Lam won the first runner-up and second runner-up prizes respectively. The Longest Drive for Gentlemen (on the 10th Hole) prize belonged to Mr Max Wong. The awards for the Closest to the Pin (on the 9th Hole and 17th Hole) were presented to Mr Tony Hioe and Mr Henry Lau respectively. Mr So Wing-kin was awarded the Closest to the Line on the 18th Hole Fairway prize.
