Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation yesterday (29 October) held a dinner banquet to express its heartfelt thanks to supporters of the University. Around 110 HKBU Foundation Members, Board Members, donors and friends of the University attended the dinner.
In his speech, Dr Wilfred Wong, Chairman of the HKBU Foundation, said that Foundation membership recorded an impressive growth of more than three-fold since its inception, from 131 to 553 (as of mid-October 2015). With the immense support received from the community, the Foundation has managed to raise more than HK$1.1 billion since 2009, enabling HKBU to implement an array of advancement projects of far-reaching impact. He said that the University would make the most effective use of the funds to excel in its teaching and research as a way to thank the donors’ staunch support.
Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, expressed his sincere gratitude to the four former presidents whose efforts set the stage for the successful development of HKBU today. In addition, he thanked the Board Members and Foundation Members for their unyielding support to HKBU.
At the dinner, Year Four Music students Gip Chan and Tom Lee performed Percussion Duo and alumnus Ocean Yip performed Saxophone Solo.
