Gary Ng (Postgraduate Diploma in Education) won the Silver Award at the Outstanding Prospective Teachers Election organised by the Hong Kong Prospective Teachers’ Association.

Gary is pleased and honoured to receive the award. He said he wanted to challenge himself and make a breakthrough by taking part in the election. Gary said that every candidate had to submit some documents, such as a personal resume and a lesson plan in the first round. In the second round, the candidate had to give an oral presentation and answer questions raised by two secondary school principals. Gary said he learnt how to design a comprehensive lesson plan and how to inspire students’ thinking at HKBU and this enabled him to successfully obtain the prize.

He thanked teachers of the Department of Education Studies for always providing him with guidance and support. Previously, Gary studied for a bachelor’s degree in nursing but he changed his focus to education, an area which he is more interested in. He continued to study PGDE in HKBU with the aim of grasping wide-ranging and in-depth knowledge in the area of education.

Gary plans to be a general education teacher upon graduation so that he can apply what he learnt at HKBU in the past few years.
