Mr William Yeung, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director and Co-owner of Hong Kong Broadband Network Ltd (HKBN), also a member of the Class of 1985, was invited by the Department of History as guest speaker of the Distinguished Alumni Lecture held on 29 April. The lecture on “4Ws and 5Ps – The Basics of Staying Ahead” attracted dozens of students, faculty members and alumni to attend.

In the lecture, Mr Yeung pointed out that the key to success could be summed up by understanding the concepts behind “4Ws” (What, Why, When and Who) and “5Ps” (Prior preparation prevents poor performance). He also shared his valuable working experience in HKBN, inspiring students to set a series of challenging life goals. He expanded on this by saying that as they attempt to realise their goals, they should identify, approach and “ally” with the right people from whom to seek help.

He also emphasised the need to implement “clear target, clear timeline”, explaining that this has always made him well-prepared to fight the “wars” and ensure the health of the company.

He encouraged students to remain optimistic when facing difficulties as a hostile environment will only make them stronger in life.
