HKBU receives red wines donated by Dr Kennedy Wong in celebration of its 60th anniversary

07 Jun 2016

The University recently received a generous donation of red wines from Dr Kennedy Wong, Managing Partner of Philip K H Wong, Kennedy Y H Wong & Co, in celebration of HKBU’s 60th anniversary.

The red wines are specially packaged as “HKBU Diamond Jubilee Red Wines” for sale to the University community. The net proceeds collected will be used to support the University’s institutional advancement. There are three different red wines to choose from, two of which come with the signatures of four HKBU Presidents, namely Dr Daniel Tse, Professor Ng Ching-fai, Professor Albert Chan and Professor Roland Chin.

To share the fine wines with the University community, a wine tasting event was held on 6 June 2016, where two red wine experts, Professor Ricardo Mak of the Department of History and Dr Billy Mak of the Department of Finance and Decision Sciences, introduced the red wines to participants and shared their wine tasting experience. Dr Mak also gave an introduction to the HKBU Wine Association formed by students and highlighted their recent success in international wine tasting competitions.

To express the University’s gratitude, Mrs Pamela Chan, Deputy Chairman of the Council and the Court, and Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, presented a token of appreciation to Dr Kennedy Wong at the event.

Besides red wines, the university also produced a series of souvenirs to commemorate its 60th anniversary, including the HKBU History Book, a mobile phone charger, a cutlery set, a lapel pin, and a paper carrying bag.
