The Faculty of Science of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held today (5 July) its Open Day, one of the many activities of the 2016 Science Festival. Around 1,200 participants from around 40 secondary schools and 8 primary schools attended the Open Day. The theme of this year’s Science Festival was “Pulses in Science: Not so simple!” which aimed at enhancing public understanding of the importance of pulses to human beings and the environment.
Activities also included an array of talks on the benefits of eating beans; organic agriculture and genetically modified food products; chemistry magic show; laboratories and low-carbon campus tours; exhibitions and an Integrated Science Challenge Competition.
The competition required participants to solve a series of challenges related to the theme. The championship title went to Diocesan Girls’ School. The first runner-up was Tin Shui Wai Government Secondary School and the second runner-up was Our Lady of the Rosary College.
