Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation hosted a Thanksgiving Reception today (17 February) to express its appreciation to donors for their support. Around 170 guests attended, including the Foundation’s Board of Governors, members and friends of HKBU.
In his speech, Dr Wilfred Wong, Chairman of the HKBU Foundation, said that since its establishment, the Foundation has raised over HK$1.2 billion to help the University implement an array of advancement projects. He added that the scale of the Foundation has grown substantially, with the number of members increased to 608 in eight years. He said the Foundation will fully support the University’s initiatives in promoting internationalisation and research in order to serve and fulfil the needs of society.
Addressing the occasion, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin shared with participants the University’s latest developments and added that with its core DNA elements including caring and compassion, creativity and innovation, and global vision, HKBU has developed into a university of excellence and will continue to nurture outstanding talents to contribute to the community.
At the reception, Dr Wilfred Wong and Professor Roland Chin presented certificates to honorary vice-presidents, honorary directors and directors of the HKBU Foundation expressing thanks for their generosity.
The Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation was established in early 2009 with a mandate to secure resources to sustain the University’s development in every sphere in fulfilment of its mission of Whole Person Education.
