A team of four students from the School of Business shone in the local round of the recent HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2017. The winning team of Sarah Gao (Finance, Year 3), Jeff Lee (Finance, Year 4), Leo Leung (Accounting, Year 4), and Phoebe Wong (Human Resources Management, Year 3) demonstrated their superior analytical and presentation skills to win the second runner-up award.

“I am proud of the HKBU team, who were really dedicated and committed. They valued team work and hard work over anything else. With the intensive training that was prepared for our students prior to the competition, they managed to transfer what they have learnt into a rewarding experience and achieved new heights,” said Senior Lecturer of the Department of Accountancy and Law Mr Man Ko, who is also the coach of the HKBU team. He also thanked Lecturer of the Department of Marketing Dr Connie Li, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Management Dr Felix Yip, Teaching Consultant of the Department of Management Mr Lam Sui-wah, and the School of Business for the great contributions and strong support they gave to the team.

Organised by the HKU Asia Case Research Centre and sponsored by HSBC, the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition each year brings together elite business students from universities in Hong Kong and across Asia to compete. The competition is supported by a panel of judges comprising seasoned members of the business industry with international experience and exposure. The competition challenges teams to compete against each other with their business strategies and presentation skills in two rounds.
