More than 28,000 secondary school students and visitors joined the Information Day for Undergraduate Admission on 7 October. They gained the most up-to-date information on the University’s development and its undergraduate programmes and experienced HKBU’s unique campus life.

Featured events of the Information Day included a talk on “Navigate JUPAS admissions, explore HKBU programmes”, and two talks on Non-JUPAS admissions for sub-degree students and students with international qualifications. Visitors also met with HKBU scholars, students and alumni to learn more about individual programmes, admission requirements and career prospects at briefings and sharing sessions organised by various faculties and schools.

Professor Ricky Wong, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) cum Academic Registrar, said that from 2018-19 new concentrations will be offered in specific undergraduate programmes. For example, a new interdisciplinary “Data and Media Communication” concentration will be jointly offered by the Department of Journalism and the Department of Computer Science for year three students of both departments, with special emphasis on data analytics and journalistic principles and skills for media organisations as well as related industries. New concentrations in Financial Risk Management and Actuarial Statistics have also been added to the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics programme.

Professor Wong said there would also be changes in the arrangement of the JUPAS programmes. For example, the requirement for the elective subject of the Bachelor of Arts has been raised from level 2 to level 3; the requirement for elective subjects for the Bachelor of Business Administration have been elevated from one subject at level 2 to two subjects at level 3; the requirement for elective subjects for the Bachelor of Communication has been changed from one subject at level 3 to two subjects at level 3.
