In the recent Hong Kong Life ASTC Sprint Triathlon Asian Cup 2017 (Tertiary School Relay), five students of two teams from HKBU finished first runner-up and second runner-up in various sections of the race, including 375m Swim, 15km Bike and 2.5km Run. 

 

Winners of the first runner-up prize are:
Swim and Bike: Ching Ho-kwong (Higher Diploma, Year 1)
Run: Hung Tsz-him (Associate Degree, Year 1)

 

Winners of the second runner-up prize are:
Swim: Wong Suet-wing (Associate Degree, Year 1)
Bike: Crystal Lau (Associate Degree, Year 1)
Run: Ngai Tin-yan (Physical Education and Recreation Management, Year 3)

 

This was Ngai Tin-yan’s first triathlon race even though she has been keen on long distance races (more than 20km) for some time already. She said: “The fast rhythm and sprinting required in a 2.5km run is a huge challenge for me, both physically and mentally. I consider this an opportunity to exceed myself.” She believes the triathlon race provided an invaluable chance to experience team spirit.
