HKBU holds ceremony to honour newly appointed endowed professors and their donors

HKBU held the Inauguration Ceremony of Endowed Professorships 2020 on 24 August to confer Endowed Professorship and Endowed Associate Professorship titles on four distinguished scholars, and acknowledge the tremendous support of their respective donors.

 

Presided over by Dr Clement Chen Cheng-jen, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, the ceremony saw the conferment of endowed titles on four scholars including (in alphabetical order of discipline): Professor Jia Wei, Cheung On Tak Endowed Professor in Chinese Medicine; Dr Han Quanbin, Vincent V.C. Woo Endowed Associate Professor in Chinese Medicine; Professor Man Shu-sum, Dr Hung Yeung Pong Wah Endowed Professor in Film and Television; and Professor Johnny Poon Ming-lun, Dr Hung Hin Shiu Endowed Professor in Music. 

 

In his welcome address, Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, expressed the University’s deepest gratitude to the donors for their generous support. This year’s Endowed Professorships and Endowed Associate Professorship were established with the support of the Cheung On Tak Charity Foundation, Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited and the Vincent and Lily Woo Foundation.
