The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Alumni Affairs Office jointly organised the “Gold Go Run” event on 13 November at the Joint Sports Centre. The event was a celebration activity of the 50th Anniversary of the Faculty, and was part of the programme of the Alumni Homecoming Day 2021.
Apart from enjoying the fun of running, more than 180 HKBU students, alumni, staff members and their families got a taste of some newly emerged sports, and had physical fitness tests at the event. Through sport activities, participants connected with each other, and their sense of belonging to the Faculty and the University were strengthened.
Officiating guests of the “Gold Go Run” kick-off ceremony included Professor Rick Wong, Interim Provost; Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Professor Ricky Wong, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) cum Academic Registrar; Professor Daniel Lai, Dean of Social Sciences; Professor Chung Pak-kwong, Associate Dean of Social Sciences (Development) and Acting Director of Student Affairs; Professor Clara Ho, Head of the Department of History; Professor Gina Lai, Head of the Department of Sociology; and Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs.
In his opening remarks, Professor Rick Wong commended the Faculty of Social Sciences for their enormous contributions over the past 50 years, including nurturing talents for Hong Kong. He hoped that the Faculty will continue to score new heights in the years ahead.
The 14th Alumni Soccer Seven organised by the Alumni Affairs Office was held on the same day, with some 200 alumni who formed 17 teams to compete in the tournament.
