The Department of Humanities and Creative Writing (HMW) celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of its humanities programme at the “HMW Pearlfect Together Luncheon” on 18 February with around 120 staff, students and alumni. Attendees also bade farewell to Professor Eva Man, former Chair Professor in Humanities and Emeritus Professor of the Academy of Film, at the event.
The humanities programme was launched in 1990 and HMW was established in 2012. The celebration events for the 30th anniversary were postponed to this year due to the pandemic. At the luncheon, Professor Lo Kwai-cheung, Head of HMW, expressed his gratitude to all participants for their staunch support of the Department over the years. Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), shared how the humanities relate to artificial intelligence. SoulJase, an alumnus and member of the boy band C AllStar, also improvised his latest self-written song at the luncheon.
To make a record of the development track of the humanities programme, the event organising committee interviewed 30 groups of people who are intimately connected with HMW and recorded their stories of growing with HMW. Please click here to browse the interviews.
