The Leadership Qualities Centre of the Office of Student Affairs launched an HKBU High Table Dinner series in 2022/23 with the support of a donation from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. Renowned professionals from different sectors and public figures have been invited to deliver talks at the dinners, and the first High Table Dinner on 12 January was honoured by the presence of Mr Tai Hay-lap, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, who gave a keynote speech. The event attracted the attendance of more than 120 students, alumni and friends of HKBU.
The High Table Dinner series aims to enrich students’ knowledge of a wide variety of social, cultural, economic and technological issues. It will also broaden students’ horizons and encourage them to explore and reflect on the value and meaning of life. The Leadership Qualities Centre has strived to give students a fulfilling experience at the events, and it hopes to strengthen their sense of belonging to HKBU.
Mr Tai shared with students his valuable insights on global dynamics. He encouraged students to grasp the opportunities in front of them and equip themselves with the relevant skills so that they can explore different possibilities and realise their dreams. HKBU representatives who attended the dinner included Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), Professor Henry Fock, Director of Student Affairs, and Ms Adele Wan, Assistant Director of Student Affairs. Alumni who joined the event also shared their learning experience and stories about university life with the students, and they encouraged them to make a plan for the future.
