HKBU and CAS sign MoU to nurture future leaders

HKBU and the Civil Aid Service (CAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 6 to commit to nurture Hong Kong’s future leaders by providing diversified learning and exchange opportunities over the next five years.

Witnessed by Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, Professor Martin Wong, Provost of HKBU, Mr Cheuk Hau-yip, Acting Secretary for Security, and Mr Lo Yan-lai; the Commissioner of the CAS, the MoU was signed by Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) of HKBU, and Mr Leung Kwun-hong, Chief Staff Officer of the CAS.

Professor Alexander Wai said that HKBU has been committed to the provision of whole person education to promote holistic youth development. He believes that HKBU and the CAS can capitalise on each other’s strengths through their collaboration to nurture future leaders who are confident, competent, and committed to society and the country.

Hoping that the collaboration will enrich young people’s understanding of government departments, Mr Cheuk Hau-yip said the CAS may provide HKBU students with training and experiences with the characteristics of disciplined services to help more young people of Hong Kong to broaden their horizon, release their potential, and develop positive thinking.

HKBU plans to hold seminars and workshops for CAS members and cadets regularly to share research findings which can help them maintain both physical and mental health for peak performance. Meanwhile, the CAS will hold experiential learning activities for HKBU students to improve their fitness, discipline, leadership skills, cooperation and teamwork, emergency response capability, resilience, etc.
