HKBU hosts Annual Meeting of the International Conference on Genomics

The 18th Annual Meeting of the International Conference on Genomics, co-organised by the International Conference on Genomics; the Sport, Physical Education and Health; and BGI, was held on HKBU campus on 2 December. Experts from around the world shared their insights on a wide range of areas related to sports science, training, and healthy lifestyle.

Renowned experts who joined the Conference as speakers included Professor Vassilis Klissouras, Professor Emeritus of Ergophysiology of the University of Athens, who delivered a talk titled “Beyond Citius, Altius, Fortius”, while Professor Yannis Pitsiladis, Head of the Department of Sport, Physical Education and Health at HKBU, shared his insights on the topic of “Opportunities out of Asia to champion Olympism”.

Professor Willem van Mechelen, Professor of the Amsterdam Public Health Research Institute of the Amsterdam UMC, spoken on the theme “Physical inactivity: self-regulation and self-responsibility or Nanny knows best?”. Mr Mike Miller, CEO of the World Olympians Association, elaborated on “The benefits of being active - Olympians and elite athletes as role models”.
