School of Communication hosts Public Relations Career Day

The PR Career Day 2023 attracts around 100 student participants.
Guest speakers share on the latest employment trends and public relations professional skills.
The event provides an exchange platform for graduating students to interact and network face-to-face with public relations professionals.

 

HKBU’s School of Communication co-organised the PR Career Day 2023 with the Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals' Association and CTgoodjobs on 26 February. It provided an exchange platform for graduating students to interact and network face-to-face with public relations professionals, and learn tips for starting a career in the industry.

Nearly 20 industry leaders participated in the full-day event which attracted around 100 students from different institutions in the public relations, communication, marketing and other related disciplines. Guest speakers from leading companies such as MTR Corporation Limited, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Limited and ManpowerGroup Greater China shared on the latest employment information and the essential public relations skills demanded by the ever-changing society. The event featured talks and workshops on job-hunting skills and job interviews. A job fair with job openings offered by major employers was also organised.

Dr Angela Mak, Associate Professor of the Department of Communication Studies, said: “In the past few years, students rarely had the opportunity to participate in large-scale in-person public relations industry events. The Career Day this year gave students a chance to talk face-to-face with seasoned experts, listen to their professional advice and get prepared for their future career.”
