Cheung Man-yui, a 2019 graduate from the Department of Sport, Physical Education and Health; Wong Hiu-ching, a 2021 graduate from the Academy of Music; and Chan Pak-hei and Lo Tsz-to, who graduated in 2023 from the Academy of Music, have been awarded scholarships this year by the prestigious Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme (HKSES) launched by the HKSAR Government. The award presentation ceremony was held on 25 August.
Among the 723 applicants who competed for this year’s HKSES, 70 have been awarded scholarships. The four HKBU alumni awardees are among the 13 who will each be granted a scholarship of up to HK$300,000 per year to support their pursuit of postgraduate studies at world-renowned universities. Cheung Man-yui will study for a Doctor of Physiotherapy at the Monash University. Wong Hiu-ching will study for a Master of Arts in Piano Accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music. Chan Pak-hei will pursue a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Indiana University, while Lo Tsz-to will pursue a Master of Studies in Music (Composition) at the University of Oxford.
HKSES aims to support local students to pursue their studies at world-renowned universities outside Hong Kong, with a view to grooming a top cadre of talent with global vision, an international network and world-class education, thereby contributing to enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness.
