Professor Chow Yiu-fai garners the “Best Serious Composition" award with Since When.

The cross-media art performance Since When, with texts and lyrics written by Professor Chow Yiu-fai, Professor of the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, won the “Best Serious Composition” award at The 21st CASH Golden Sail Music Awards, held on 6 November.

Professor Chow expressed his gratitude to the entire team involved in the project and shared his excitement at receiving this prestigious accolade for the first time. Throughout the years, Professor Chow has been honoured multiple times with the "Best Lyrics" awards in the pop music category at CASH Golden Sail Music Awards. This is his first time garnering the “Best Serious Composition" award, marking a milestone in his thirty-year career as a celebrated lyricist.

Since When invited audiences on a journey of “seeking, finding, remembering and imagining” and was part of Tai Kwun’s “SPOTLIGHT: A Season of Performing Arts” programme launched in April this year. This cross-media art performance featured concepts, texts and lyrics created by Professor Chow; music and songs composed by Dr Joyce Tang, Lecturer of the School of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts; and visual and spatial illustrations supported by artist Mr Chan Wai-lap and other artists. The music was performed live, with installations featuring audio-visual recordings by HKBU students.
