Hung Ka-lok (BBA, Year 4) and Fung King-hei (Chinese Medicine, Year 4) teamed up with two other university students and clinched the silver award in the Start-up Division at the 2023 Qianhai-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau-Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition organised by the Qianhai Authority.

Their winning project is about producing a microbial preparation called “Zhangyun Microbial Fertiliser” which aims to address the environmental pollution and health issues caused by chemical fertilisers and pesticides. This innovative proposal earned the team a cash prize of RMB80,000 that will go a long way to support the incubation of their project and their settlement in Qianhai.

This year, the Competition received a total of 418 submissions. It aims to discover creative and innovative young talents, cultivate young people's innovative attitudes, develop their leadership potential and entrepreneurial spirit, and help them realise their entrepreneurial dreams in the Greater Bay Area.
