Four students from the School of Business namely Liu Ting (Year 3, Economics and Data Analytics Concentration), Song Yuhan (Year 2, Accounting Concentration), Liu Fenfen (Year 4, Accounting Concentration) and Lee Ngai (Year 4, Accounting Concentration) won the championship in the 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Tertiary Institutes Accounting Business Knowledge Competition. BNU-HKBU UIC won the Competition’s first runner-up title.
Nine tertiary institutions competed in the final of the Competition held in Zhuhai on 12 October. The participating teams analysed how companies should seize the opportunities arising from the integration and development of the Greater Bay Area in their business decisions from the perspectives of digital technology, high-end manufacturing industry, and biology or traditional Chinese medicine.
Mr Anthony Cheng, Lecturer I of the Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance and the Coach of the winning team, has also won the Best Instructor Award in the Competition. He said that HKBU students' accounting and business knowledge as well as their analytical and presentation skills are well recognised. He added that the students’ awareness of Hong Kong’s role in the Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative has been greatly enhanced. He expects that the University will have more interaction with other universities in the Greater Bay Area.
Organised by the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation and the Guangdong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Competition aims to provide a platform for exchanging ideas between students and industries, and promote the development of the Greater Bay Area.
