HKBU students visit Mexico for a study tour

The Leadership Qualities Centre of the Office of Student Affairs organised the Mexico Cultural and Economic Study Tour from 26 December 2023 to 6 January 2024 with the sponsorship of the Youth Development Commission. A total of 20 HKBU students participated in the 12-day learning trip to Mexico City, which enhanced their understanding of China-Mexico relations and broadened their global perspectives.

To enrich students’ knowledge about the economic development of Mexico, the Centre arranged visits of various organisations, including the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Mexican States, CRRC Corporation, and Mexican multinational food company BIMBO. They also visited the Confucius Institute in Mexico City to understand its role in promoting Chinese culture, and attended a workshop to learn about the differences and similarities of Chinese and Mexican cultures.

During the trip, the students hosted cultural workshops for local children and university students to promote Chinese culture. They also presented various issues of Hong Kong in the areas of education, employment, entrepreneurship and home ownership with the local youth.
