The Centre for Innovative Service-Learning's Social Innovation Co-working Space (TriAngle) organised “Techstars_ Startup Weekend Social Innovation” from 15 to 17 March to cultivate innovation projects and provide a space for idea development, allowing sstudents to connect with like-minded individuals and build a social innovation network to drive their projects. The event attracted over 50 participants, with a majority from HKBU and others from various universities.

With the entrepreneurship training provided, the participating teams managed to transform their ideas into concrete projects that inspire change in society. Among them, three teams were presented with awards:

  • Business Model Award: MetaGreen, nurturing tree seedlings with IoT technology
  • Execution and Design Award: Ricefort, transforming rice husks into sustainable solutions
  • Market Validation Award: Bio-Leisure, bridging entertainment and animal rights preservation

The winning teams are awarded a total of up to HK$37,000 Social Innovation Kick-start Fund from TriAngle. They will also have the opportunity to be nominated by HKBU for the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Ideation Programme.
