In line with the "One University, Two Campuses” concept, 140 Year 1 students from four transdisciplinary programmes who take the Global Challenges course participated in a study tour in Zhuhai from 20 to 22 April. Organised by the Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes and generously sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the tour enabled the students to explore the sustainable urban development in Zhuhai and Hong Kong.
HKBU students collaborated with 40 students from the Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (BNU-HKBU UIC) to create 21 videos promoting urban sustainability. They were encouraged to address the intricate challenges of balancing economic growth, environmental conservation, and social equity, ultimately aiming to establish transdisciplinary solutions for a sustainable urban space that benefits future generations. The culmination of their efforts will be showcased on campus in September.
The students also visited various innovative sustainable facilities in Zhuhai, including high-tech eco-enterprises, health enterprises, urban planning museums, cultural heritage sites, and urban parks.
