HKBU Academy of Film alumni were honoured at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards. At the award presentation ceremony on 14 April, Ms Rachel Leung, a graduate of the higher diploma programme, secured her second "Best Supporting Actress" award for her role in In Broad Daylight. Ms Yoyo Tse, a graduate of the higher diploma programme, was honoured with the "Best New Performer" award for her exceptional performance in Fly Me to The Moon. Ms Norris Wong, a graduate of the master programme, won the “Best Original Film Song” award for her lyrics of the theme song of The Lyricist Wanna Be, which she directed herself.
A number of Academy of Film alumni and lecturer received nominations at the Awards:
Mr Felix Chong Man-keung, an alumnus, was nominated for "Best Director" and "Best Screenplay" for The Goldfinger. Mr Albert Poon Yick-sum and Ms Kate Tse Oi-lam, a guest lecturer and an alumnus, respectively, were nominated for "Best Art Direction" for In Broad Daylight. Mr Keith Chan Hiu-chun, an alumnus, was nominated for "Best Film Editing" for Time Still Turns The Page.
