Three HKBU innovation research projects win awards at China (Shanghai) International Invention and Innovation Exhibition

HKBU achieved excellent results at its first participation in the 7th China (Shanghai) International Invention and Innovation Exhibition. All three HKBU licensed companies received one gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the exhibition held from 12 to 14 June.

The award winning HKBU research teams and projects are:

Gold Medal: Professor Zhu Furong, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) of the Faculty of Science

Project: Portable fruit detector, capable of accurately measuring the sweetness of fruits without the need to cut them open.

Licensed company: Crimson Vision Technology Limited

Silver Medal: Professor Zhang Hongjie, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of the School of Chinese Medicine

Project: A series of personal care products for skin whitening made from compounds derived from the Chinese herbal plant - Dendrobium.

Licensed company: Gihon Biotech Limited

Bronze Medal: Professor Han Quanbin, Professor of the Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine

Project: Rapid and accurate authentication method for precious traditional Chinese medicine including Cordyceps, Dendrobium, Edible Bird’s Nest, and Donkey-hide Gelatin.

Licensed company: Hong Kong Authentication Centre for Chinese Medicines Limited

Themed steering invention and innovation, the event showcased over 800 innovations and featured exhibitors including the "Belt and Road" countries.
