Lau Po-yan, a Year 3 student of the Physical Education and Recreation Management programme, won a gold medal in the Taolu Nanquan - Nandao Combined Women event at the World Games Series 2024 Hong Kong held from 12 to 13 October.

The International World Games Association organises the World Games every four years. This year, the World Games Series was held in Hong Kong for the first time. Athletes from all over the world competed in cheerleading, roller sports and wushu, in order to be eligible for participating in the World Games 2025.
