Mr Ma Yue, an alumnus of the Academy of Film, excelled in the Higher Education Institution Group of the 8th First Feature Film Initiative (FFFI). He will receive a grant of HK$5 million from the Film Development Fund (FDF) to implement his winning film project, Sin of Dreams, as his first commercial feature film.
Mr Ma is a 2016 graduate of the Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media programme. Sin of Dreams is written and directed by him and produced by Mr Saville Chan, Associate Professor of Practice of the Academy of Film.
The FFFI was launched in 2013 to identify new talents through a competition based on screenplay and production proposals. It is supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Council, and funding is made available from the FDF to the winning teams to produce their films. A total of eight alumni from the Academy of Film have been awarded the FFFI.
