An enlightening event showcasing art-tech and scientific research with BU alumni ensemble in Shanghai

The “BU Alumni Ensemble in Shanghai” organised by the Alumni Affairs Office was held on 5 December in Shanghai. Themed “Hong Kong-Shanghai Connect: Shaping the Future via Art-Tech and Scientific Research”, the event brought together 300 alumni and friends from Shanghai and neighbouring cities.

In his welcome remarks, Professor Martin Wong, Provost, shared the latest developments and achievements of the University in art-tech and scientific research, including the research outcomes in areas such as Chinese medicine, health and drug discovery, data analytics and AI, showcasing the University’s dedication to transforming research outputs for societal benefit. He also thanked the staunch support from the HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai (HKBUSHAA) in promoting the University in Mainland China.  

Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), shared the University’s tireless efforts in promoting transdisciplinary education for future-shaping students, and the recent accomplishments of HKBU students. 

Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary, provided updates on the development of campus infrastructures such as the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, the Life Science Imaging Centre, and the Wu Jieh Yee Institute of Translational Chinese Medicine Research.  

Alumni Mr Gilman Too (Communication) and Mr Leon Huang (Master of Business Administration), Honorary President and President of HKBUSHAA respectively, took the opportunity to introduce the latest activities of the Association. At the event, alumna Ms Lee Yee-ping (Business Administration) offered a singing performance.
