Professor Xu Jianliang, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Computer Science, has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for the class of 2025. This prestigious recognition honours his extraordinary contributions to mobile data management and trustworthy query processing.
Since joining the Department in 2002, Professor Xu has made remarkable advancements in areas such as big data, database, blockchain, applied artificial intelligence, and data security and privacy. His academic impact is underscored by an H-index of 63 and over 13,000 citations, with his research widely recognised and adopted by governments and industry leaders.
In addition to his research, Professor Xu has been instrumental in the IEEE community, serving as General Chair or Technical Programme Chair for over ten international conferences and workshops, as well as being an Associate Editor for several IEEE Transactions.
In response to his election, Professor Xu expressed his gratitude, stating, “Being elevated to IEEE Fellow is a tremendous honour that reflects the support of many. I am grateful to my students, collaborators, colleagues, and especially to Professor Jiming Liu, whose guidance has been invaluable. This achievement is a testament to the collaborative spirit of our Department.”
