Professor Cheung Yiu-ming, Chair Professor in Artificial Intelligence of the Department of Computer Science, has been awarded the prestigious International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) Fellow Award 2024, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the fields of cluster analysis and visual computing, as well as their applications.
Established in 1994, the IAPR Fellow Award is conferred biennially to acknowledge individuals for their distinguished contributions to the field of pattern recognition and IAPR activities. This year, a total of 21 new IAPR Fellows were elected worldwide, with Professor Cheung being the sole recipient from Hong Kong.
Professor Cheung is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and was named a Senior Research Fellow by the Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2023.
