Four HKBU students have been named Fellows under the “University Innovation Fellows” (UIF) programme run by Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design. They will attend the “UIF Meetup 2024” to be held in April 2024 in the Netherlands to meet and exchange with other Fellows from around the world.

On 15 December 2023, a pinning ceremony was held by the HKBU Centre for Innovative Service-Learning to recognise the achievements of the four outstanding Fellows. They are Ng Tsz-chung (BBA-Marketing), Sin Ho-wang (Arts and Technology), Liu Qianyi (Finance), and Fung Wai-shan (Business Administration).

The UIF programme aims to empower students to become agents of change at their respective institutions. Fellows work to ensure that all fellow students acquire the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary to navigate a complex world and shape the future.

To fulfill this objective, the four students completed a six-week online training to equip themselves with the knowledge to analyse the campus ecosystems and identify opportunities for change related to innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and creativity. Having devised a project proposal, they will subsequently implement it transforming their ideas into reality.

A total of 261 students from 68 higher education institutions across 15 countries have been named Fellows under the UIF programme this year.
