Kristen Hong Yeaeun, a Year 2 student of the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology programme, was awarded this year’s Innovation and Technology Scholarship. She was one of the 25 outstanding university students receiving the scholarship of up to HKD150,000, which will support her participation in a series of elite-nurturing initiatives, such as overseas or Mainland attachment, local internship, and mentorship programmes.

With the scholarship, Kristen plans to go to Australia and Austria to attend art and technology festivals and symposiums. She will also spend one semester on exchange studies at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. As a student from South Korea, Kristen is keen to use art and technology to bridge the gap between people of different backgrounds, and raise the social awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development.

The Innovation and Technology Scholarship was jointly launched in 2011 by the Innovation and Technology Commission, HSBC, and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. It aims to support the development of the next generation of InnoTech talents in Hong Kong, enabling them to take up leadership roles, and inject new impetus into the InnoTech development of Hong Kong.
