Director of Information Technology honoured with 2024 CIO100 Award

Mr Allan Wong, Director of Information Technology, recently received the CIO100 Award presented by CIO ASEAN for 2024 for the third consecutive year.

The award was in recognition of HKBU’s pioneering “Generative AI-powered Virtual Assistant Framework (VAF)” in the education sector. Mr Wong said: “This sophisticated framework enables HKBU to rapidly develop and deploy highly capable chatbots, significantly reducing development time while maintaining the quality of information provided. The innovation exemplifies the University’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to enhance its IT services and improve the student experience.”

The Office of Information Technology was also recognised as a finalist in the Team of the Year – Innovation category.

The CIO100 Awards recognise top technology leaders and teams across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong who are driving innovation and influencing rapid change. The award presentation ceremony was held on 19 November in Singapore.
