Serving patients with chronic diseases through HKBU Community Service Day

Thursday, 27 March 2025

A team of 12 dedicated student leaders organised various workshops and games for more than 100 patients with various chronic diseases and their carers at the HKBU Community Service Day 2025 held by the Leadership Qualities Centre of the Office of Student Affairs on 15 March. The event also recruited 35 student volunteers.

Sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Community Service Day is held annually to nurture students’ empathy and enhance their awareness of social issues while simultaneously cultivating their leadership and service spirit, by providing them the opportunity to design and deliver service projects.

Dedicated students from the organising committee of the event spent months preparing and designing a series of activities tailored to the patients’ needs. These activities included team-building games, acupressure workshops, handicraft sessions and more, all aiming to encourage the participants to face challenges in life with perseverance and a positive mindset. Student volunteers and beneficiaries also shared their well wishes and messages with one another.
