Four University Innovation Fellows from HKBU, namely Chiu Fung-yu (Visual Arts), Lui Sun (Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Science), Yui Sze-hang (Arts and Technology), and Sharmaine ALEGADO (Business Administration), attended the University Innovation Fellows Global Summit organised by Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design. The event was held from 4 to 6 April at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
The summit attracted about 250 students, staff, and faculty from 63 higher education institutions worldwide. During the summit, University Innovation Fellows from HKBU introduced their “Creativity Innovation Series” – an array of workshops aimed at introducing design-thinking and innovation concepts to students at HKBU. They also shared personal experiences and insights on knowledge transfer and project execution, receiving positive feedback from participants. The event exemplified their commitment to global citizenship and entrepreneurship, enhancing their ability to drive impactful solutions alongside the younger generation.
The University Innovation Fellows programme aims to empower students to become agents of change at their respective institutions. Fellows work to ensure that all fellow students acquire the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary to navigate a complex world and shape the future. Students named Fellows under the programme are required to complete a six-week online training to equip themselves with the knowledge to analyse the campus ecosystems and identify opportunities for change related to innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and creativity.
