Wan Lok-yan, a Year 2 student in the Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Science at HKBU, has been awarded the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2025 in the “Life and Health Technology” category for her dedication and passion for innovation and technology.
Lok-yan will receive up to HK$150,000 for participating in a series of elite training programmes, including overseas or mainland attachment programmes, mentorship programmes, local internships, service project programmes, as well as ideation and achievement showcases. With the support of the Scholarship, she hopes to enrol in the “Nanotechnology in Medicine” and “Clinical Trials” courses at University College London to deepen her understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and improve its efficacy and delivery.
Held on 26 June, the scholarship presentation ceremony was officiated by Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, who delivered a keynote speech and presented the certificate to the scholarship recipients. Mr Tobby Fu, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research, and Professor Anna Kwan, Director of the Teaching and Research Division, the School of Chinese Medicine at HKBU, attended the event to share the joy of having received the scholarship with Lok Yan.
First launched in 2011, the scholarship is jointly organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. It aims to drive local innovation and technology development by supporting undergraduates who are passionate about technological advancement. The scholarship has supported 375 university students to date.
