A delegation of the HKBU Foundation participated in the 20th Anniversary celebrations of Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) on 18 November. They were warmly received by the senior management team of BNBU, including Professor Chen Zhi, President; Professor Patrick Chau, Provost and Chair Professor; and Professor Mao Yaqing, Party Secretary, Vice President (Administration) and Chairman of the BNBU Education Foundation. Professor Chau provided a comprehensive briefing on the University’s latest development and achievements.
The delegation toured the BNBU campus, visiting key facilities including the Learning Resource Centre, where they appreciated a recent exhibition on Chinese shadow puppetry. They were impressed by BNBU’s efforts to promote this national intangible cultural heritage. In addition, the delegation witnessed a tree-planting ceremony and attended a roundtable forum featuring several Nobel laureates, which explored the opportunities and challenges facing science in the era of artificial intelligence. The visit concluded with the main anniversary celebrations, including the 20th Anniversary Development Ceremony and the Gala Dinner.
The delegation was led by Dr Kennedy Y H Wong, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU cum Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation; and Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU. Other members included Professor Roland Chin, President Emeritus of HKBU and his wife Mrs Zina Chin; Mrs Susan So, member of the Board of Governors of the Foundation; Mr Hung Kwong-yee and Mr Lam Cheung-chuen, members of the Entrepreneur Committee; Mr Kevin Ng, member of the Young Entrepreneur Committee; along with other members of the Foundation and representatives of the University, including Mr Paul Pang, Ms Pau Chun-ping, Professor Dickson Shang, Mr So Wing-kin and Mrs Nora So, Mr Wong Nga-chung, Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) of HKBU, and Mrs Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
