Seventeen HKBU scholars honoured with Outstanding Research Output Awards

The Research Office hosted the 2024/25 Outstanding Research Output Awards Presentation Ceremony on 19 January, recognising 17 HKBU researchers for the significant impact of their scholarly work.

Guests attending the ceremony included Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School; Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research Development); Professor Johnny M Poon, Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research); Professor Cheung Yiu-ming, Dean of the Institute for Research and Continuing Education; Professor Christy Cheung, Director of the Research Office; and Professor Cheung King-ho, Executive Associate Dean of the Graduate School.

In his welcome remarks, Professor Lyu thanked the awardees and emerging scholars for their contributions to academia and to HKBU’s research environment. He also shared his research philosophy and work principles, encouraging the community to pursue high-quality work and foster a collaborative spirit.

The projects of the award recipients span a diverse array of areas, from AI models for analysing electronic health records to research uncovering new organic pollutants that pose major health risks in urban areas, and more. These achievements align with HKBU’s strategic research clusters and underscore the University’s commitment to nurturing all-round research talent and addressing pressing global challenges.
