Lee Ting-chi (Bachelor of Music in Creative Industries, Year 3), Charlotte Ng Man-hei (Bachelor of Arts in Music, Year 3), and Cherry Pang (Bachelor of Arts and Science in Arts and Technology, Year 2), members of the “House of Scholars”, an elite programme launched by the Office of Student Affairs, co-curated the transdisciplinary immersive exhibition “Hong Kong Through My Eyes”. The exhibition opened on 7 March at the School of Visual Arts’ Immersive Lab.
The exhibition transforms children’s hand-drawn depictions of Hong Kong buildings and original characters into flowing, particle-based landscape using 3D immersive digital art technology. Blending art and technology, the work constructs a dreamlike city woven from light, shadow and dynamic particles, inviting audiences to rediscover Hong Kong through the innocent perspectives of children.
The student curatorial team said: “We not only showcase children’s drawings but also invite audiences to step into the city they have reimagined. Beyond visual impressions, we hope to inspire the public to reimagine everyday life, and to demonstrate how art and technology can create space for quieter voices.”
Since last November, the team has run a series of drawing workshops for children aged 6 to 8 from diverse cultural backgrounds, encouraging them to sketch their interpretations of Hong Kong landmarks and their beloved characters. Their works capture not only Hong Kong’s architectural forms but also the personal emotions and cultural imprints of the city.
