In the 2025/26 academic year, the Language Centre organised a broad slate of cultural events and activities celebrating multilingualism and multiculturalism. These included cultural carnivals, hands-on workshops, field trips, cultural exchanges and film screenings. More than 1,000 students from diverse cultural backgrounds came together to appreciate Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German and Spanish cultures.

Many activities were student-led, giving them opportunities to exercise leadership, co-create the experience, and interact with peers from different cultural backgrounds. International students also had the opportunities to further immerse themselves in local culture during field trips. These immersive experiences developed students’ intercultural competence and teamwork and adaptability skills, enhancing their career readiness.

The conclusion of the activities marks the beginning of students’ language-learning journeys, underscoring the University’s commitment to fostering multilingual skills and cultural understanding as essential components of a global education.
