HKBU students clinch three awards at Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

Three HKBU students and their teams clinched a total of three awards at the 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, underscoring HKBU students’ strengths in innovation, research excellence and social impact.

Tang Canyu, a student of the Individualised Major programme, together with his teammates from Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University, won the Second Prize in the Information Technology category with their project “Blue Whale Project – An AI‑based edge‑cloud collaborative self‑deploying underwater robotic platform”. Xue Xue, a PhD student in Chinese Medicine, earned the Third Prize in the Life Sciences category for her project, “A novel strategy targeting the CT domain of connective tissue growth factor for the treatment of fibrotic diseases – from the development of aptamer‑based therapeutics to US FDA orphan drug designation”. Leung Ka‑wing and Lee Sum-yee, student of the English Language and Literature & English Language Teaching programme, received a Merit Award in the Social Enterprise/Cultural & Creative Services category for her start‑up Duckhanbon.

Established in 2015 by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre of the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association, the Competition is one of the largest and most representative platforms of its kind in Hong Kong. It encompasses both innovation and entrepreneurship streams and provides outstanding teams with the opportunity to represent Hong Kong at major national competitions.
