HKBU receives donation to establish Nancy Hung Start-up Seed Fund

Miss Nancy Hung, Executive Director of Ten Pao Group Holdings Limited, has generously donated HK$1.5 million to HKBU for the establishment of the Nancy Hung Start-up Seed Fund. The Fund will support the “Start-up Saturday” competition and its related initiatives organised by the StarHub - Career Support and Incubation Hub at HKBU, aiming to contribute to the sustainable development of society by offering comprehensive entrepreneurial support to empower young talents.   

Organised by the Career Centre of HKBU’s Office of Student Affairs, “Start-up Saturday” provides a platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas and transform these ideas into viable businesses. They also receive guidance from industry experts and build networks for entrepreneurial success. The winning team receives seed funding of up to HK$30,000 and has the opportunity to join other incubation and mentoring programmes.

Miss Nancy Hung is a member of the HKBU Foundation (Foundation) Young Entrepreneur Committee. Her father, Mr Hung Kwong-yee, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ten Pao Group Holdings Limited, gave generously to advance the University’s various initiatives, such as supporting the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, establishing scholarships, setting up the Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Fund, and founding the Andrew Hung Memorial Fund for Business Entrepreneurship Support and Training to support the HKBU Business Entrepreneurship Support and Training Programme. Mr Hung is currently a member of the Entrepreneur Committee and an Honorary Permanent President of the Foundation.
