HKBU’s transdisciplinary co-explore contest inspires secondary school students to embrace transdisciplinary learning

HKBU organises the Transdisciplinary Co-Explore “Low-Carbon Living” Educational Resources and Short Video Creation Contest 2026.

 

Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund, organised by the Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes (DTUP) at HKBU, co-organised by WWF-Hong Kong, and fully supported by the Business-School Partnership Programme of the Education Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Transdisciplinary Co-Explore “Low-Carbon Living” Educational Resources and Short Video Creation Contest 2026 concluded with its final round and award presentation ceremony at HKBU on 8 August.

Now in its fourth year, the contest received a record-breaking number of entries, with 128 teams comprising more than 400 students from 46 secondary schools. Following the preliminary round, 52 teams advanced to the finals.

Aimed at inspiring students to integrate knowledge across disciplines, the contest encourages participants to explore environmental challenges through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Under the theme “Low-Carbon Living”, participants created educational resources to promote low-carbon lifestyles and raise public awareness of the interconnected impacts of environmental issues on society, the environment, and the economy. This year, the introduction of an Open Division alongside the Secondary School Division brought together innovative ideas from individuals from diverse age groups and backgrounds, further broadening the reach of sustainability education in the community from a transdisciplinary perspective.

Selected entries will be uploaded to the Environment and Conservation Fund - “Create and Share” Low-Carbon Living Educational Resource Platform, which is scheduled to launch in late September, allowing students’ creative ideas to reach a wider audience and inspire greater community engagement in sustainable development. Going forward, the contest will continue to provide a platform for young people to apply their transdisciplinary learning and showcase their creativity.
